View Full Version : Megatar Storm sound sample?

Hi everybody,

This is my first post to this forum. I'm discovering tapping on a friend's stick and I'm now considering to buy my own tapping instrument...

Now to my question:
Does somebody have a sound sample of a Megatar Storm Model? I'd like to hear how these bartolini pickups sound, but oddly enough, Mobius doesn't seem to offer any recording of them...

Best regards,

Matthieu

Hi Ammatt.

Go back to the Megatar web site and click on testimonials, scroll down to a player by the name of Suki zo, she plays a Storm and if you open the link you will find a mp3 of her playing it.
The recording quality is not the best, sounds like a live recording to me, but it should give you some idea.

Have recently purchased a Storm and am really impressed with it, It's really well made and the Barts sound great. Traktor is a great guy to deal with as well.

Good luck with your impending purchase!.

Hi Pete,

Thank you for the link. I wasn't aware that Suki-Zo plays a Megatar Storm.
Nice songs, but I'd really like to hear some simpler, no-effects sound samples.
Pete, why wouldn't you make one for me? nothing fancy, just a few notes from the bass and the melody side, without any effects, directly recorded from your amp into your computer (or recorder, if you've got one...).

I guess you'll have mastered "tuning up and adjusting [your] strap" by now? ;)

Best regards,

Matthieu

Hi Matthieu.

Pleased to report that i have the "tuning and strap adjustment " nailed!!.

The"Storm" has just arrived back from the guitar doctor and is playing like a dream!. A new set of strings, a fret stone and intonation check has transformed her (and she was good to begin with!).

I bought her in the U.K "ex demo" and a little tweak was needed in order for her to achieve her maximum potential!.

I would be very happy to provide you with a selection of notes (nothing very musical possible as yet!:( ). I don't at present have the facility to record directly onto my computer, do you have access to a mini-disc player?. Could record a disc and mail it to you?.

Let me know what you think, you can e-mail me directly if you like.

Best regards

Pete:)

Hi Gary.

What i refer to as a "fret stone", you may know of as a "fret dress"?.
As part of a full set up, the guitar tech checks that each fret is even and level and makes minor adjustments to level them out to prevent fret buzz etc.

Most of my bass guitars from the cheapest to the most high end have at sometime had this treatment.

My "storm" needed, a fret dress, truss road adjustment, bridge saddles lowering, minor adjustment to the nut and a good clean of the board. Just the usual full setup stuff really.

My megatar has been in the U.K for a few years on demo and just needed a decent set up.

Every note now rings out and the strings are set 1.5 mm, she almost plays herself!.

Gary, appologies if i've just stated the bloody obvious?!!!.

Best regards

Pete
